Down the corridor she passed dozens of quarters like hers, claustrophobic–some big enough for two–all empty, left open in various states of duress, belongings scattered about in forgotten haste: a pair of shoes that did not fit her, a cosmetics case she pilfered months ago, someone’s unfinished knit-blanket. She had considered taking on the project but realized that knitting bored her to tears, even more so than the idle hours of isolation spent wiling away to nothing.
Tales of Slayer Squadron
Military Sci-Fi
Following the exploits of a squadron of elite operatives, Tales of Slayer Squadron is a serial that highlights a desperate galaxy filled with a myriad of catastrophes threatening to overwhelm dozens, if not hundreds, of worlds. With a dose of heavy sci-fi influenced by the Warhammer 40k universe, these stories will be released via Gregory's Ko-fi.
When she emerged the coherent calls to violence erupted into a wild wail of excitement. The chorus echoed throughout the colossal dome, a colosseum taken from the ancient designs of Earth where bloodsport found its origin, enhanced with holoprojections overhead. They followed her every action and rendered her as a giant for all to see. From there she seemed the warrior they believed her to be.     
All Gods Must Die
Saga Fantasy
All Gods Must Die is a saga featuring Einir, the last mortal left alive after a desolation of cruel, tyrannical gods, and his violent journey to avenge his people and free the realm from the rule of undeserving deities.  All Goods Must Die is available on JCM Berne's Grimdwarf Magazine, featured as serial. You can get the magazine here, with All Goods part 1 starting in issue 7.
When he enters the cave the sounds grow in volume. He recognizes them now: hammer strikes, iron on iron, metal shaped to the whim of an artificer. His nose twitches from the distinct twinge of mildew and mold, soft lichen that pads his steps and silences his trek. Ahead lies a simple forge, a raised anvil and its necessary companions that rest beside a still pool, its waters aglow with a soft, pale illumination.

Warm air brushes against his face. It stings his already hot skin, bringing with it neither relief or aid. It plucks his leather wide brimmed hat from his head and drops it to a cracked floor of blasted earth. Not even sand tolerated the blasted lands. Lifeless gray eyes watch as his singular comfort from high-noon tumbles away to join the brush and weeds. Damn, he thinks. He would speak it if his lips were not dry and cracked, or better yet–if the draw of coarse hemp did not tighten around his neck.
